I read _Blanche on the Lam_ by Barbara Neely, a recommendation from my mom. Blanche, a black woman in Georgia, runs away from arrest and winds up hiding out working for an extremely odd white family. The mystery is somewhat traditional, but seeing it from the perspective of a black woman in the Deep South is anything but. A rough but powerful read.
@willaful have you seen Kellye Garrett's article on CrimeReads about the Blanche series? https://crimereads.com/barbara-neely-the-activist-turned-crime-writer-who-inspired-a-generation/
@mizzelle No, thanks for passing it on.
